Liberty Ammunition’s .38 Special is classified as a standard pressure round rather than a P (high pressure) or P (extremely high pressure) round. In fact, all of Liberty’s Civil Defense ammunition is loaded to SAAMI (Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute) specs and pressures and is safe to shoot out of properly maintained, modern weapons. The .38’s muzzle velocity is 1500 fps and 250 foot pounds of energy (FPE) making it faster and more energetic than a competitor’s 110-grain .38 Special load listed as having a muzzle velocity of 945 fps and 218 FPE. Liberty Ammunition’s .38 Special offers 2” dispersion at 25 meters out of a 4” barrel.
