In response to that situation, Lightfield has calibrated its wildlife control line into the following basic classes: Close range 8-25 yards, Mid-range 15-40 yards and Extended range 30 yard.

A patented design available only through Lightfield. The black slug at 500 fps will accurately target problem wildlife for safe and effective aversive conditioning. This load has been used thousands of times against bears and other large animals across the US and Canada. This load is accurate and effective out to 40 yards.

Note: The Mid-Range Rubber Slug should only be used in Cylinder or Improved Cylinder-choked rifle barrels only.

This load is an improvement on traditional rubber buckshot. This load has two  projectiles rather than many smaller ones. The two larger balls carry kinetic energy farther than small ones and are more effective at greater distances. The bore sized projectiles also enhance accuracy at greater distance. The two balls divide the total energy across two impact points, creating a strong pain stimulus without penetration.

This is the ‘traditional’ aversive conditioning round, improved to carry a larger payload. This load is designed for close to intermediate encounters with large game such as Bear, Moose, Elk or Deer. The Home Defender HV-Star is intended for close range defensive use. This load gives shooters an effective option to a lead or copper projectile. This load can be used as a painful warning shot, but can also be lethal under some circumstances. This load will lose most of its effective energy beyond 15 yards.

The 1.25″ diameter Star has relatively high velocity but has very low mass. The large flexible design collapses on impact and imparts its available energy across a larger surface area than other projectile types.

Some level of injury should be expected and can range from serious injury or death to painful welts or bruising. Results can vary based on the weapon used, distance to target, clothing, body weight and part of the body hit.
